Contract Engineer – Nepal

A leading international consultancy is seeking a highly experienced Contract Engineer to support a major hydropower development project in Nepal. This freelance role is ideal for a senior professional with deep expertise in contract management, tender documentation, and construction supervision of large-scale hydropower projects.

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring contractual compliance and supporting the successful delivery of a high-capacity hydropower scheme in the Asian region.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing tender documents for hydropower projects of 500 MW or more, using internationally recognized contract formats such as FIDIC.
  • Supporting the detailed engineering design and construction supervision of large-scale hydropower infrastructure.
  • Advising on contract strategy, risk allocation, and compliance with international procurement standards.
  • Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure alignment of technical and contractual deliverables.
  • Providing expert input on claims, variations, and contractual correspondence.
  • Ensuring adherence to international best practices in contract administration and project delivery.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Construction Management, Law, or a related discipline.
  • Over 20 years of experience in detailed engineering design and construction supervision of hydropower projects.
  • Proven experience in preparing tender documents for hydropower projects of at least 500 MW capacity.
  • Extensive knowledge of Fidic contracts for WB funded projects
  • Experience in construction supervision & tendering of hydropower projects of 500 MW or more.
  • International experience (outside home country) within the Asian region on projects of similar scale.
