A major international water infrastructure initiative is seeking a Contract Manager to support the design and construction supervision phase of a large dam and associated civil works in Africa. The project involves multi-national collaboration in this second phase: construction of the dam, water transfer tunnels and associated site infrastructure.
The Contract Manager will provide expert support in FIDIC contracts, The role includes advising both the client and engineering teams on contractual matters, managing claims, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise on contractual issues for both client and engineering teams
- Manage monthly measurements and payment certificates
- Assess and prepare claims documentation
- Support contract administration for consulting agreements
- Ensure contract documentation is accurate and compliant
- Assist in negotiations regarding pricing, timelines, and deliverables
- Represent client interests in disputes or arbitration
- Develop and implement negotiation strategies
- Monitor contract performance and recommend necessary changes
Required Expertise:
- Degree in Civil engineering and heavy infrastructure such as Dams, Tunnels, Hydropower
- Experience in contract engineering or quantity surveying for major infrastructure projects
- Familiarity with FIDIC contract standards
- Understanding of dam construction and related structures
Work Conditions:
Part-time: 5 days every week around 20 hours per week / Location: home office with occasional travel to project site in Africa
Salary: a well paid USD or EUR tax free salary depending on number of days worked / month, around 18,000 each month.
