We are recruiting for a Lead Underground (U/G) Works Engineer to support the delivery of a large-scale dam and hydropower development. This is a technically complex infrastructure project involving extensive underground works, including hydraulic tunnels, and requires experienced engineering oversight on site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to the Chief Resident Engineer on all underground-related matters.
- Supervise and mentor a small team of local engineers conducting U/G inspections.
- Review and comment on technical documents, procedures, and method statements.
- Ensure works are executed in accordance with drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Monitor quality and progress of U/G works, identifying and reporting discrepancies.
- Support resolution of technical issues and contribute to regular reporting.
- Oversee the handover process for completed underground works.
What you will need:
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 20 years of experience in civil engineering, including:
- At least 10 years on large hydroelectric projects.
- At least 10 years in underground works.
- At least 5 years in hydraulic tunnel construction or supervision.
- Strong command of English (written and spoken).
- Proficient in reporting tools
- Strong interpersonal and coordination skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt quickly.
What they will offer you:
A freelance, 1 year rolling contract with a tax free salary of up to 14,000 / month USD or equivalent in EUR can be also considered (tax in your own country is your responsibility). PLUS accommodation 3 x trips home, 6 weeks unpaid leave. Marital status can be considered. There are many years left on the project so it is very likely you’ll be needed for well over a year.
