An international infrastructure programme is seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to support the delivery of a major hydropower and pumped storage project. Working with a strong expat leadership team, this role is central to ensuring the successful execution of one of the region’s most significant renewable energy developments—overseeing engineering, construction, stakeholder engagement, safety, regulatory compliance, and project governance.

You will work closely with the Project Director to drive strategic direction, maintain operational excellence, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams through all stages of the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day‑to‑day project operations and coordinate across design, engineering, construction, and commissioning teams.
  • Ensure project milestones are met in alignment with contractual obligations, safety requirements, and environmental standards.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure timely and efficient execution.
  • Lead risk assessment processes and implement mitigation strategies for technical, commercial, and operational challenges.
  • Manage compliance with local regulations, industry standards, and all permitting requirements associated with hydropower development.
  • Collaborate with government entities, local communities, and subcontractors to support approvals and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Maintain project documentation, reporting, and record‑keeping in accordance with audit and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, and performance across all project teams.
  • Represent the Project Director in internal and external meetings, providing strategic and technical insight.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior management, partners, and regulatory agencies.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline; professional engineering licence is advantageous.
  • Minimum 20 years’ construction project management experience, including 10 years in senior leadership roles on major infrastructure projects.
  • Proven background in hydropower, dam construction, pumped storage systems, or large-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Project Management, Construction Management, or Engineering Management beneficial.
  • Ability to work full‑time onsite at the project location.
  • Strong familiarity with project management tools, contract administration frameworks (e.g., FIDIC/NEC), and environmental & safety compliance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Skilled at operating in high‑pressure environments and resolving complex issues efficiently.
