Design Team Leader - Pakistan

We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Design Team Leader to lead the design of major dam infrastructure, including Concrete Face Rockfill Dams (CFRD) and appurtenant structures. This role is ideal for a senior civil engineer with deep expertise in dam and hydropower design, capable of guiding a multidisciplinary team through complex design and construction phases. The position is structured as a flexible engagement, with 12 months of active contribution distributed over an 18-month period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy:
    Lead the project design team, ensuring alignment with technical, regulatory, and project goals.

  • Design Oversight:
    Oversee the design of CFRDs and related structures, ensuring compliance with international standards and best practices.

  • Design Review & Construction Support:
    Manage design requirements during both the review and construction phases of the project.

  • Team Development:
    Mentor and support a team of engineers and designers, fostering a high-performance culture.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
    Work closely with project managers, construction teams, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of design and execution.

  • Process Improvement:
    Establish and refine design workflows, tools, and quality assurance protocols.

Qualifications & required experience:

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an internationally recognized or HEC/PEC recognized institution.
    (Higher qualifications in related disciplines will be given additional weightage.)

  • Minimum 25 years of overall experience, with at least:

    • 20 years in the design and construction of dams and hydropower projects
    • 15 years specifically in CFRD design and construction

  • Proven ability to lead large-scale infrastructure design teams.

  • Strong communication, leadership, and project coordination skills.

Engagement Details:

  • Duration: 18 months
  • Input: Equivalent to 12 months of full-time work over the period
  • Location: Remote or hybrid (depending on project setup)
  • Compensation: $18,000 USD / month (pro-rated based on actual input)
