A leading infrastructure programme is seeking an experienced Project Manager – Powerhouse to oversee the full construction lifecycle of a major underground hydropower powerhouse facility. This role is ideal for a senior construction leader with deep expertise in underground works, heavy civil structures, and electro‑mechanical integration.

You will take ownership of the planning, execution, and delivery of all powerhouse construction activities—civil, structural, and E&M—ensuring they are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest technical standards. This is a pivotal site‑based leadership role responsible for coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing complex interfaces, and driving progress across one of the project’s most critical work packages. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end‑to‑end delivery of the powerhouse construction scope, including excavation, structural works, E&M installation, and interface management.
  • Oversee daily site operations to ensure alignment with design, schedule, quality, safety, and cost objectives.
  • Manage and coordinate contractors, engineers, and subcontractors working within the powerhouse.
  • Work closely with design teams, E&M specialists, and tunnelling/underground leads to ensure seamless integration.
  • Develop construction sequencing, resource planning, and critical path strategies.
  • Monitor progress, resolve site issues, and implement recovery plans where needed.
  • Enforce compliance with technical specifications, international standards, and safety protocols.
  • Prepare progress reports, dashboards, and updates for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Support inspections, audits, and testing & commissioning activities with QA/QC and E&M teams.
  • Serve as the primary site contact for powerhouse‑related technical queries and coordination.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Mining Engineering.
  • 20+ years in heavy civil or hydropower construction, with 10+ years leading powerhouse or underground packages.
  • Proven experience in deep excavations using diaphragm walls, piles, and groundwater control.
  • Strong background in heavy foundations, mass concrete, powerhouse superstructures, crane beams, and E&M embedded parts.
  • Hands‑on experience with hard‑rock tunnels/caverns (drill & blast, NATM, rock support, geotechnical monitoring).
  • Expertise in installation of large‑diameter steel penstocks, including welding/NDT, alignment, anchoring, grouting, and hydrotesting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage surface–underground interfaces and critical‑path E&M sequencing.
  • Strong construction management skills: temporary works, HSE leadership, QA/QC, contractor control, and recovery planning.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and reporting tools such as Power BI.

Salary:

An employee contract which will include accommodation, travel allowance, relocation assistance. The salary will vary depending on years’ experience and can be paid in USD as a NET amount, it can be negotiated. Family status can be discussed.
