A residential role based in a thriving city in Africa has emerged, you will be employed by a utility development company with several projects across the continent. They invest in, develop and operate renewable energy generation and implement local electricity distribution for communities in Africa.

After recently signing a new utility agreement with a local government to extend and expand the national grid to ensure more of the population have access to power, including 1m consumers in rural areas of the country.

You will provide on the ground leadership for this development acting as the point of contact between your employer and the government whilst also; coordinating internal and external experts for utility setup, engineering studies, ESIA, procurement, business systems, transmission grid integration planning in addition to working with the investment and legal teams to ensure financing processes, supporting legal framework, and project documentation.

Some of your responsibilities:

• Be the day to day project manager for the new rural distribution project
• Manage all the various teams and consultant, whilst liaising and reporting to external stakeholders
• Gather information to effectively problem solve with the relevant experts
• Recruit, hire and train personnel required to accomplish the tasks and services for the project

What you will bring:

• 5-10 years experience of developing, designing, operating, consulting and/or financing electrical distribution utilities.
• This is not a technical role but knowledge or experience in electrical engineering and power distribution is an advantage.
• Experience working on projects in Africa
• Experience dealing with and managing many stakeholders
• Project management and project planning experience
• Degree in Engineering, business or other discipline + PMP and / or MBA would be an advantage
• Fluent in Spoken and written English & French

What they will offer you:

This is a long term residential role and suitable for a family relocation, with the opportunity to progress to a regional capacity after project completion. Salary $100,000 – 125,000 USD Gross / annum (depending on experience) package includes medical cover + bonus potential. You are responsible for your in country taxes and accommodation, they can provide assistance in relocation and travel if you prefer single status.
