A leading engineering consultancy is expanding its Renewable Energy business line and is seeking a Director, Hydropower and Dams to strengthen its presence in the Canadian hydropower market. This role is ideal for a senior engineering leader who combines deep technical expertise with strategic vision and strong business development capabilities.
You will drive the growth of hydropower and dam‑related services, develop new opportunities, and guide multidisciplinary teams in delivering high‑quality engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Review and refine the hydropower and dam safety strategy and action plan.
- Identify and cultivate target clients to build a sustainable, balanced project portfolio.
- Recommend strategic partners and complementary expertise to enhance service offerings.
Business Development
- Position the organization for upcoming opportunities and lead pursuit strategies.
- Identify capability gaps and teaming needs to strengthen competitive advantage.
- Serve as Client Account Manager for selected clients and support coordinated client management across the firm.
- Expand relationships with existing clients and open doors to new ones.
- Track opportunities using internal business development systems.
Proposal Oversight
- Review RFPs and guide proposal strategy and execution.
- Support proposal development with creative, competitive approaches.
- Ensure proposals meet all technical and commercial requirements.
Operational Excellence
- Identify and recommend key hires to support growth in hydropower and dam safety.
- Participate in engineering mandates including studies, detailed design, and dam safety reviews.
- Oversee project delivery and act as Sponsor or Engineer of Record for selected projects.
- Mentor emerging engineers and support succession planning.
Your profile:
- Civil Engineering degree from a recognised university.
- 15+ years of relevant experience in hydropower, dam design, consulting engineering, business development, and project execution.
- Canadian registered Professional Engineer
- Advanced proficiency in French and English, Spanish is an additional advantage
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
- Asset: Experience with budgeting, estimating, scheduling, and financial modelling.
